A New Year’s Eve celebration will take place at the Hilton Southlake in Town Square. This year, Party in the Pasture becomes Party With a Purpose and will be in the form of an '80s theme.
"We’ll have the great live music from the band Live 80 and have all kinds of fun, all within the warm confines of the Hilton ballroom," said Bill Webb, managing partner of Legacy Management. During the New Year's Eve event Webb explains, "We’ll provide great food, party favors, a midnight champagne toast and end the evening with breakfast in the ballroom. If you feel moved to throw on your favorite '80s costume, please do. But costumes are certainly not required."
A cash bar will also be available.
Webb said the party was literally held in a pasture in previous years, within a huge heated circus tent, behind the home of Curtis and Cat Green. It was always a country theme, for fairly obvious reasons. Gary P. Nunn was the entertainment for the first two years and The Bellamy Brothers two years ago.
"The event got so big it was very cumbersome to have it in the tent," Webb said. "So we didn’t have it last year. Our friend Mike Hutchison, (general manager) at the Southlake Hilton, had been asking for quite some time to have it in his ballroom. So earlier this year he and I were having drinks and we decided to do it at the Hilton. We changed the name to the Party with a Purpose. The theme is nothing hard and fast. Our entertainment is called Live 80 and they play great '80s music. That is a time period that fits for most folks in our circle of friends so we went with that."
Next to spending New Year’s Eve among good friends, the best thing about this is event is that it benefits charity, according to Webb. Friends for Kids has been the beneficiary since the first event in 2010. Friends For Kids supports a number of charitable causes positively impacting children in and around the North Texas area.
"Since many of us involved are members of Southlake Kiwanis, we have chosen to support many of those worthy local charities supported by Kiwanis and will continue to do so," Webb said. "In addition, Friends for Kids is fresh off of our Slam Dunk Cancer event held in May during the Final Four. Darius Rucker and Dick Vitale headlined the event as we generated more than $100,000 to benefit the V Foundation for Cancer Research and its pediatric cancer programs in Dallas and Houston."
Space is limited with 30 tables available at $1,500 per table. The only way to guarantee reserved space for your group is to purchase a table. Couples tickets are available for $350 but those seats will be on a first-come basis. Get your friends together and go in together on a table (10 spaces per table) or sponsor a table through your business and invite your friends.
"Also, our good friends Mike Hutchison has allowed us to have a special room rate at the Hilton. The rate is $169 and reservations can be made directly through Hilton National Reservations at (800) HILTONS (800-445-8667) on an individual basis. The group code to reference is NYEF31. This is an adults only event but get a room at the Hilton, load up the kids in the room with a pizza and movies … or leave the kids at home. Your choice!" Webb revealed in a release about the party.
"For those of you who have participated, you know it will be a great party," Webb said. "If nothing more than seeing a lamp shade on Tommy Pennington’s head at midnight, it is worth the investment. And it’s all for charity. We’ll also have a silent auction with a number of unique items."
The party is open to anyone. Tables and/or tickets can be paid for with a credit card by visiting friendsforkids.net. If you want to reserve a table or tickets and pay by check and/or make a silent auction donation, respond to Webb via email or call 214-205-7495.
"It is intended to be a smaller, more manageable event where we can celebrate how fortunate we all have been in the past year and spend the beginning of the new year in a room with people we truly enjoy being around," Webb said. "We always have a few new people come and, ultimately, they become friends. We originally thought, while we are at it, if we are going to have a party let’s make it for charity. So this is a way to be with friends, be close to home, have a great time, and do something good and charitable for our community."
The price of ticket and table purchases, as well as donations for the silent auction, are tax deductible, subject to IRS regulations.
"We hope you can join us for SLNYE, our Party with a Purpose," Webb said. "Act now as our space is limited. It may seem early to be thinking about NYE, but when we are full, we are full."
Tickets will not be sold at the door. Webb is looking forward to the event and to make it better each year.
"For me personally, and for my wife Jill, it allows us to spend NYE with a fairly large group of incredible friends and do some good and the Hilton gets to clean up the mess the next day. That’s a win/win in my book," he said.
"Our vision is that our attendees leave saying, 'I can’t wait until next year.' It is about having a good time and being safe. We know we will raise some money that will go back to Kiwanis to help them and that makes it even better. If moving it to the Hilton works and we can make it fun, we will look at going back next year. But this is a labor of love for us so we just want to get through this New Year’s Eve and enjoy it with our friends."
