Southlake Garden Club members and Kelly DeWitt, hydroponic gardener
How does your gardenbrgrow? If you're a member of the Southlake Garden Club, here's the answer:brhydroponics. It's a method of growing plants using mineral solutions, in water, brwithout any soil. Kelly DeWitt, a hydroponics gardener, visited the SouthlakebrGarden Club as the featured speaker for the January meeting.
“It was a verybrinformative event for our members that taught us how to grow plants with onlybrwater, nutrients and a container,” says the club's Monique Schill. “Mr. DeWittbrdemonstrated how the roots grow reaching for water as it recedes in thebrcontainer over time. The growth rate of plants that are grown hydroponically isbrsomewhere between 30 and 50 percent more than soil-grown plants.”
