Trusting Connections co-founders Caroline Malkin and Rosalind Prather
It's a cookie bonanza andbrbusiness lesson in one. Trusting Connections (TC), the nanny agency and sitterbrservice in Southlake, has made a promise to purchase Girl Scout cookies frombrevery Girl Scout who stops by its office on February 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. Here’sbrwhere the business lesson comes in: Each girl must give a brief sales pitch.brThey can then draw from a jar that contains notes indicating how many boxes thebragency will purchase—from one box all the way up to 25 boxes.
So, what will TC co-foundersbrRosalind Prather and Caroline Malkin do with all those boxes of Samoas andbrPeanut Butter Patties? Donate them back to the Girl Scouts to support its “Giftbrof Caring” programs.
“Caroline and I becamebrbusiness owners at the age of 24, and we attribute our success to the manybrpeople who believed in us,” Prather said in a press release. “The Girl Scoutsbrorganization self-identifies as being ‘2.7 million strong-1.9 million girls andbr800,000 adults who believe girls can change the world,' and we wholeheartedlybrsupport this notion.”
In their fourth year in business together, Pratherbrand Malkin hit a chart-topping milestone when they had over half a millionbrdollars in sales for that year alone. This makes these women rank amongst anbrelite group as less than four percent of female-owned businesses ever to generatebrmore than $500,000 in annual sales receipts, according to the U.S. CensusbrBureaus' Survey of Business Owners.
Both women are excited about this event and lookingbrforward to meeting budding entrepreneurs and hopes that the community will helpbrspread the word. “If girls are empowered to believe that business ownership isbra real possibility for them, we think that helps ignite their dreams. And whenbrgirls dream, amazing things happen,” said Prather.
The TC office is locatedbrat 950 E. State Highway 114, Suite #160, off of 114 and Carroll Avenue inbrSouthlake in the Cedar Ridge II Office Park. Girls are encouraged to arrive earlybrin case there is a line. The last box will be purchased at 5 p.m.
