'Matilda'
Witness the magical story of a little girl with extraordinary powers and a curious mind in OhLook Performing Arts Center’s production of "Matilda," based on Roald Dahl’s children’s novel of the same name. "Matilda" tells the story of a five-year-old girl who is despised by her parents and ridiculed by her headmistress at school. But when she surprisingly develops telekinetic abilities, she decides to use it for her own fun and mischievousness. Tickets are $18, and the show runs through until August 11.
Dallas Summer Bead and Jewelry Show
Looking to get jazzed-up in all of DFW’s best jewelry and accessories? Come on out to the Dallas Summer Bead & Jewelry Show 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. this weekend at the Grapevine Convention Center. You’ll have bundles of fun as you shop for pearls and gems, look at colorful beads and pendants and even learn how to create your own necklaces in their onsite wire wrapping classes. With $5 and a perky smile, you’ll have a blast at this weekend-long boutique event.
Even though Independence Day has passed, the fireworks haven’t stopped, especially at this spectacular kayak adventure this weekend. Come to Lonestar Adventure Sports at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at 3600 Pilot Point in Grapevine and experience a wet and wild adventure that culminates into an epic fireworks show at 9:30 p.m. You’ll have plenty of fun learning how to paddle, splashing in the water and enjoying the beautiful views that include both the sunset and the fireworks right after it. This is one lake adventure you’ll want to experience in the Lone Star State.
Third Annual (Throw)Back to School Party
Everyone loves the '70s. Going back to school, not as much. But this weekend will help you with the transition with the Well’s third annual (Throw)Back to School Skate Party. For $3, you can come to Skatetown in Grapevine this Sunday and rollerblade your way all across the arena, or come as a family for $10 and skate together around the rink. Don’t forget to dress up in your groovy '70s jackets and styles! Prizes for best-dressed will be given out to the best-looking skater later that night.
