It may be only the first full week back to school over at Carroll ISD, but the semester will pick up in speed soon enough. If you’re looking for something fun to do over the weekend to take a break between homework assignments and projects, take your family out to one of these five family-friendly events.
Viridian Elementary At Skatetown
Looking to skate your way through a fun Friday evening? The Viridian Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association is hosting a fundraiser at Skatetown from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday at 2330 William D Tate Ave. For $8, you’ll have a full evening full of exciting skating around the rink, plus $3 from your admission will go toward the Viridian Elementary PTA. Come down to Skatetown, strap on your rollerblades and have a blast along with everyone else at this exhilarating event.
When you sink your teeth into a juicy, delicious burger, the taste you expect from it is usually savory, not sweet. Yet, the hamburgers from Taste Buds Kitchen provide something a little different, and you’re invited to come and “grill” your own! From 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday at 2140 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite V, you’ll be able to turn an ooey-gooey chocolate cookie and cupcakes into a delicious hamburger cupcake. Come and have a grill-icious time!
There’s only one way to make an abundance of cats even more adorable, and that’s plopping them into their own feathery wonderland. From 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday at 200 N. Kimball Ave., Suite 200, you’ll get a chance to meet several cute kitties at Hollywood Feed’s Whiskers in Wonderland cat adoption event. Even if you don’t take a lucky kitten home with you, you’ll still have fun petting and playing with these wonderful little felines in their whisker wonderland.
It can be hard to find family-friendly comedy nowadays. Thankfully, the Fish Sticks Comedy troupe is as appropriate as they are funny, and you’ll have a blast laughing at them during their Comedy Connection Series this weekend. Come to the Crown of Life Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. on Saturday at 6605 Pleasant Run Rd. and get ready to have a barrel of laughs with the rest of your family. Don’t forget to bring your funny bone! Tickets are $5 to $10.
Do you want to get into lacrosse the hard way? Come to the Southlake Carroll Lacrosse Association’s youth boys boot camp at 1 p.m. on Sunday at the Dawson Middle Football Field at 400 S. Kimball Ave., and your young athlete will get the chance to learn the ins and outs of lacrosse with other kindergarteners and eighth-graders. Come on out and “crosse” learning this sport off of your bucket list.
