Sunsets, "Star Wars" and Southlake Oktoberfest dominates the weekend ahead. Whether you want to munch down on a delicious schnitzel or are looking to listen to some lovely Journey covers, Southlake and Grapevine got a little bit of everything for the weekend ahead.
Prost, y’all! The Southlake Chamber of Commerce is hosting its notable Oktoberfest all weekend long at Southlake Town Square, and you’re encouraged to come out and celebrate with them! From 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday, you’ll have a chance to enjoy all of the German food, drinks and festivities for as long as you want. Don’t forget to come by the convenient kid's zone, where they can be preoccupied with plenty of games and jung fun! Wir sehen uns dort!
This is one of the prettiest sunsets you’ll ever see – only, you won’t just see it. From 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens, you’ll witness this wondrous family-friendly concert from the Journey tribute band, Infinite Journey. Enjoy some of their hot cover singles, play games or have your personal picnic in the gardens. They’ll also have a kids area where you can jam out on free play instruments or play on a Musikgarten sound wall. Whatever you do, just don’t stop believin’.
Fall is officially here, and what better way to celebrate than by attending Canyon Falls’ 10th annual Fallapalooza? From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Canyon Falls Welcome Center at 6950 Canyon Falls Drive, you’ll have the opportunity to celebrate the new season with fall fans and dog lovers of all ages! Zipline or rock climb, play corn hole, enjoy savory meals from on-site food trucks or play frisbee with your dog at the Pooch Park. You’ll have a fall-tastic time at this fun festival.
St. Francis of Assisi Picnic & BBQ
It’s a feast for the ages over at St. Francis of Assisi’s Church in Grapevine. Celebrate the church’s 70th anniversary from 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at 861 Wildwood Lane, where you’ll get the chance to enjoy fun family activities and an exquisite barbecue. There will be face painting, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, live music and so much more. Tickets are $5 for individuals and $30 for families with seven or more members. Children under two get in for free.
"Star Wars" comes alive this weekend thanks to the Apex Arts League and the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra. At 6 p.m. on Sunday at White’s Chapel UMC, families and film lovers alike will get a chance to listen to John Williams’ Academy Award-winning motion picture score to "Star Wars" live. In addition to "Star Wars," the FWSO will also play music from Williams’ other pictures, including “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial,” “Harry Potter” and “Jurassic Park.” Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children. May the force be with you on this epic adventure.
