After last year’s event was canceled, Southlake is excited to have Oktoberfest back in Southlake Town Square. With the festival running from Oct. 15-17, here are five things you need to experience as you head out to the highly anticipated event this weekend.
1. The Food And Drinks
It’s no secret that Southlake Oktoberfest provides some of the best German food and beverages every year it’s held. Purchase your tickets and get ready to enjoy some of the wurst sausages, brazen pretzels and saucey sauerkraut. And when you’re full of food, stop by one of the bier tents to sip on a refreshing brew.
2. The Entertainment
In addition to its delicious cuisine and beverages, Southlake Oktoberfest is also hosting a large variety of events on the Gazebo, German and Polka stages. The highly popular stein-hoisting contest returns on both Friday and Saturday, and various artists will also provide dance performances all weekend long.
3. The Music
Southlake Oktoberfest has always pulled out all of the stops when it comes to its music, and this year is no exception. Not only is the ‘80s-themed band The Molly Ringwalds performing Saturday night as its headliner, but the weekend also features several other musical performances from the Carroll Senior High School Jazz Orchestra, the Southlake Community band and more.
4. The Wiener Dogs
There’s more than one hot dog at Southlake Oktoberfest. On Saturday morning, the exciting Wiener Dog Race and Costume Contest returns to the German stage, where all sorts of weiner dogs will flood the festival with their adorable cuteness! Don't miss it — these puppies are way too Instagram-worthy to skip out on.
5. The 20th Anniversary
This year’s Southlake Oktoberfest is different for many reasons. Not only is this the festival’s return after its unfortunate absence last year, but this year also recognizes the 20th anniversary of the award-winning event! So raise your glasses for a toast — we’re excited to celebrate Southlake Oktoberfest this weekend.
