Texas loves its wine. With over 400 wineries and 5,000 acres of vineyards, Texas is the fifth-largest wine-producing state in the nation. It’s no wonder why Texans get so excited for Texas Wine Month, which lasts throughout the entire month of October. Whether you sample a new varietal or tour through a wine trail, here are five wine events you shouldn’t miss out on this month in Grapevine.
Kicking off on Friday, Oct. 7, Nash Farm’s Harvest Moon Supper kicks off Texas Wine Month with curated wine pairings that complement its 19th century-inspired fall menu. With wines from the Bull Lion Ranch and a live performance from the Lone Star String band, there’s no better way to begin Texas Wine Month than on Nash Farm. Tickets are $75.
38th Annual Lone Star International Wine Competition
Hosted by the Texas Wine and Grape Growers Association, wine from all over the world comes to Grapevine during the 28th annual Lone Star International Wine Competition. Over 100 wineries from Mexico, Texas and California will compete across four categories in the Tower Gallery at 636 S. Main St. on Wednesday, Oct. 6 and Thursday, Oct. 7. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, Oct. 13.
Historic Grapevine’s urban wine trail will be yet another wine staple that will be available all month long. Participating wineries include Bingham Family Vineyards, Bull Lion Ranch & Vineyard, Cross Timbers Winery, Grape Vine Springs, Landon Winery, Messina Hof Winery and Sloan & Williams Winery. These seven wineries are hosting special events all month long, including a “Witch Way To The Wine” tour on Oct. 30.
Board the Grapevine Wine Tours shuttle, because it’ll be taking wine aficionados on unforgettable wine-tasting experiences all month long. Whether you reserve a lunch or a dinner slot, each tour lasts about four hours and includes two wine tastings at each venue, plus a delicious three-course meal. Tickets are $113-123.
In addition to wine tastings and tours, Grapevine vendors and retailers are also offering a variety of wine-centric shopping. Off The Vine offers a variety of wine accessories and gifts, while the Vetro Glassblowing Studio helps you craft your own wine glass. And Chocolate Moonshine offers a variety of wine-infused treats such as Cabernet Sauvignon and champagne-filled chocolates that will satisfy any wine fan.
