Business people toasting with white wine in restaurant
Galetine’s Day is one of the best holidays to come out of a TV show. Created by “Parks and Rec” character Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day is all about celebrating the girlfriends in your life.
If you’re at a loss of what to do with your girlfriends, there are plenty local and regional events going on that would be a perfect way to celebrate!
Paint and Drink at Painting with a Twist
Painting with a Twist in Grapevine is having a special Galentine’s Day event to mark the occasion on Feb. 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. For $40 each, you and your girlfriends can reserve a canvas to paint the night away. The studio is BYOB-friendly, so grab your favorite bottle of wine to bring along! The age minimum is 13+, so you can have your teenagers participate in painting with you and your girlfriends. And to add to the night, the Galentine’s Day event will also be a trivia night! First place will win a $25 gift certificate, second place will win a $15 gift certificate and third place will win a $10 gift certificate. So call your girlfriends, reserve a canvas and save that bottle of wine for Feb. 13!
Decorate Cookies in Flower Mound
For a sweeter way to celebrate, head over to The Flour Shop Bakery in Flower Mound for Galentine’s Day cookie decorating from 7 to 9 p.m. The class, which costs $50 plus tax, is also BYOB ,so if painting isn’t your forte, you and your girls can drink and decorate cookies. Flour Shop owner and chef Cara will show the class how to make royal icing and how to outline, pipe and flood cookies. You’ll get six yummy sugar cookies to decorate and enjoy while hanging out and having fun with your girlfriends. This class is 21+, so keep that in mind if you want to include children in your Galentine’s Day celebration.

From 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., you and your girlfriends can make a chunky blanket, a hand-embroidered necklace or both for $85. Every ticket covers the class fee, all the materials, the charcuterie and two glasses of wine. You and your squad can purchase more wine at $5 per glass while learning to make a cozy blanket or stylish necklace. And since it’s in Grapevine, you won’t have to drive far to celebrate Galentine’s Day in the perfect way.
