North Texas Giving Day officially culminates Sept. 17, but giving starts much sooner.
Beginning Thursday, Aug. 27, North Texans can start donating through NorthTexasGivingDay.org, where thousands of local nonprofits are represented across more than 30 cause areas.
Since 2009, the Communities Foundation of Texas initiative has raised more than $712 million for more than 3,600 local nonprofit organizations, making it the largest regional giving initiative in the nation.
For donors, the appeal is simple: one site, lots of causes and plenty of time to browse. Whether you’re interested in animals, the arts, education, veterans, health care or something else entirely, the platform allows users to search organizations and give directly online.
This year’s campaign runs from Aug. 27 through Sept. 17, giving donors three weeks to participate instead of waiting for a single day. And there’s another perk worth noting: 100% of online donations made through the site go directly to nonprofits, with transaction and technology fees covered by Communities Foundation of Texas, donors and sponsors.
The site also stays open year-round, so North Texas Giving Day is no longer limited to September. Donors can continue supporting local organizations long after the official campaign ends.
Still, Sept. 17 remains the big finish — and Aug. 27 is your cue to start looking.
