Whether Disney is pumping out yet another live-action remake or an unnecessary “Space Jam” sequel comes out 25 years later, reboots and remakes unfortunately make up a lot of the entertainment industry today. With a slew of new reboots releasing this month, including “Dune,” “Home Sweet Home Alone” and “Ghostbusters: Afterlife,” now’s the time to take a look at some of the more obvious remakes releasing this month.
Warner Bros. has been riding the reboot train all year long, whether it was with “Mortal Kombat,” “The Suicide Squad” or the unbearably-long four-hour cut of Zack Snyder’s "Justice League.” But those aren’t the only action heroes that got a makeover, with Henry Golding portraying “Snake Eyes” before he joined G.I. Joe. Multiple horror movies got the boot again, whether it was the “Saw” spinoff “Spiral,” “Halloween Kills” or “Resident Evil: Welcome To Racoon City.” And don’t get us started on Camila Cabello looking to remake “Cinderella” again. Cinderella? More like “Cruella.”
A slew of TV shows are also seeing a revival this month, whether it’s Sarah Jessica Parker reprising her “Sex And The City” role in “And Just Like That…” or Jared Padalecki taking over for Chuck Norris in “Walker: Texas Ranger.” “Dexter” draws new blood in a revived miniseries, and anime comes alive in Netflix’s newest live-action show “Cowboy Bebop.” And if the updated cast of “Gossip Girl” proves anything, it’s that it’s never too late for a do-over — even if you didn’t ask for one.
