After you’ve hung all the stockings by the chimney with care, it’s time to curl up by the fire and indulge in the best holiday movies. The classics never go out of style, with the original animated “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” a favorite of publisher Mike Tesoriero, who has fond memories of gathering around with family to watch the ill-fated attempt of the Grinch to steal Christmas. One of our office coordinator Kelly Rose’s holiday favorites, “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” is another animated classic. But don’t worry about its move to Apple TV+ — the Peanuts special will air on PBS and PBS Kids on December 13.
If your kiddos groan at the idea of watching something traditional, there are plenty of newer holiday movies perfect for the season. Bruce Sons’ favorite holiday movie, “Arthur Christmas,” came out in 2011 and is streaming on Hulu. And there's plenty of new feel-good content on the Hallmark channel, which is a must-watch genre for contributing writer Lizzy Spangler.
If comedy is where your heart lies, have a great time watching business development account executive Brandee Champagne’s favorite holiday movie, “Elf.” Because nothing beats Will Ferrell hilariously trying to bond with his dad and spreading Christmas cheer. And if cheer is what you’re after, it doesn’t get better than the craziness of “Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer” — a holiday must-watch for editor Ashley Bradshaw.
No matter whether you watch a marathon of “A Christmas Story” on Christmas Day or laugh at the dated stop-motion animation of “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” we can all agree on one thing: “Die Hard” is a Christmas movie.
Happy streaming and happy holidays from all of us at Southlake Style!
