Let’s be honest — once the sun sets on Dec. 25, most of us are ready to put Christmas behind us and focus our sights on the new year. So if that’s you, definitely make time to see some of the festive and fantastic lights around the area before Christmas. Between neighborhood-led light shows and city-run spectaculars, there is no shortage of Christmas lights in DFW!
If you want to see lights without ever having to leave the warmth of your car, look no further than Arlington’s Interlochen Lights! Put together by over 200 homeowners, this light show boasts a variety of holiday-themed displays. To see these lights, enter the Interlochen neighborhood from Randol Mill Road at Westwood Drive. Arlington Police sets up traffic control posts from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. to help facilitate the traffic. You have until Dec. 25 to see these lights, so get in your car and go!
Grapevine City Hall Light Show Spectacular
For lights that are closer to home, head over to Grapevine to see their City Hall Light Show Spectacular! This light show is around 20 minutes long and runs continuously from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. which is perfect if you’re looking for a quick getaway. Grapevine is the Christmas Capital of Texas, so don’t miss your chance to check it out this season. And since the light show is in downtown Grapevine, you can check out all the other Christmas festivities Grapevine puts on every December.
Texas Motor Speedway Gift of Lights
Another drive-through option is Texas Motor Speedway’s Gift of Lights. This 2-mile light park is open through January 5 and features more than 500 light displays for you to feast your eyes upon. Depending on your vehicle, tickets range from $30 to $60, with only one ticket required per vehicle. Tickets can also be used on any night, not just the night on the ticket, so don’t worry if something comes up last minute. You can even bring your furry family members as long as they are on a leash and not aggressive. So buy a ticket, pile into the car and head over to the Texas Motor Speedway!
Gaylord Texan’s Lone Star Christmas
If you want the total Christmas experience wrapped up in one event, then head over to the Gaylord Texan Resort. Their Lone Star Christmas event is a combination of everything that makes Christmas great. Lone Star Christmas features 2 million lights, 15,000 ornaments, a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree and plenty of fun activities for the kids. While tickets are required, there is no shortage of holiday cheer at Gaylord Texan!
The Dallas Zoo Lights are also a great option if you’re looking for some bright lights and a festive atmosphere. The Dallas Zoo will be decked out in over 1 million lights for guests to see and lights aren’t the only attraction. The zoo will also have a Santa meet-and-greet, ornament making and refreshments such as s’mores and hot chocolate. There will also be music playing while you make your way through the lights so you and your family can get your Christmas groove on under the shine of the lights. Frisco Christmas in the Square
For both an in-car and an in-person option, head over to the Frisco Square during the holiday season! The Frisco Square has a holiday lights show that will run daily from 6 to 10 p.m. through Dec. 31. Guests can stay in their cars and tune their radios to 107.3 FM to enjoy the show or they can take a stroll around the square and listen to the music through the outdoor speakers. This light show has over 175,000 lights so no matter how you decide to, you will definitely enjoy Frisco’s Christmas in the Square!
