1. Readers’ Choice 2022
From Jan. 29 to Feb. 13, thousands of visitors came to our ballot page eager to vote for their favorite area businesses across six different categories. Be sure to check out the Readers’ Choice 2022 results in our next issue when it hits homes in April!
2. 10 Dragon Athletes Sign Letters Of Intent
Southlake is proud of its Dragons. During National Signing Day ceremonies held on Feb. 1-2, 10 Carroll athletes signed letters of intent, committing to play their sport in college. Golf had the most signees with five, while football had two signees. Tennis, wrestling and boys basketball all had one signee each.
3. Southlake Hosts Inaugural Spring Festival
Southlake celebrated the Lunar New Year in a big and bold way last month. On Saturday, Feb. 12, the city came together to host its inaugural spring festival in Southlake Town Square. The spring festival had food trucks, live performances and family-friendly activities, plus a lantern walk to conclude the festival at 6:30 p.m.
4. Steel City Pops Closes In Southlake
Steel City Pops shut its doors for good last month. Formerly located at 1151 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite 370, Steel City Pops offered high-quality, gluten-free popsicles with flavors ranging from chocolate and vanilla to blood orange and coffee. While Southlake’s location will not be reopening, you can still order pops from Steel City Pops’ Fort Worth location or order online at SteelCityPops.com.
5. Southlake Named Safest City In Texas
Southlake was once again named the safest city in Texas, according to an analysis conducted by MoneyGeek. To get its findings, MoneyGeek quantified the cost of crime in small cities and towns across the nation. With a population of 31,265, Southlake's cost of crime was estimated to be $89, according to MoneyGeek. Nationally, Southlake was rated the 30th safest city out of 953.
