July has come and gone, and unfortunately, it’s taken summer with it. While many families are looking forward to the first day of school on Aug. 15, many others are looking forward to other fall happenings like food festivals and a whole new football season. Here are some of our readers’ favorite stories from last month.
1. Central Market Announced 2022 Hatch Chile Fest
The hatch chile is back at Central Market. From Aug. 3-23, the grocery store on Southlake Boulevard will host its 27th annual hatch chile festival and will highlight products and recipes centered around the spicy green pepper. Whether it’s with crab-stuffed hatch peppers, hatch-chile kettle corn or even hatch lemonade, Central Market fans won’t be able to get enough of his fire-hot festival.
2. Eight Restaurants Participate in DFW Restaurant Week
But the Hatch Chile Fest isn’t all that’s going on in the area this month. From Aug. 8-14, DFW Restaurant Week is back for its 25th anniversary — and eight local restaurants are participating. Whether you go to Kirby’s Prime Steakhouse, Moxie’s, Sky Creek Kitchen + Bar, The Classic Cafe, Mac’s On Main, Perry’s Steakhouse, Bacchus Kitchen + Bar or Next Bistro, come to DFW Restaurant Week and dine for a great cause.
3. Dragon Stadium Set To Be XFL Practice Facility
The Dragons won’t be the only ones practicing at Dragon Stadium this fall. Last week, the XFL announced that Dragon Stadium will be one of its practice stadiums for its upcoming season. “The XFL has officially landed in the great football state of Texas,” says owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson via press release. “We are bringing a new kind of football experience to fans, players and partners.” XFL’s season is scheduled to begin on Feb. 18, 2023.
4. The Vault Opens In Southlake Town Square
A new shoe store is bringing a new sense of style to Southlake Town Square. Opening earlier last month, The Vault is a new shoe store that sells a variety of exclusive sneakers, everything from Air Jordans to Nikes. According to Southlake Town Square’s website, the retailer is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday through Saturday and 12-6 p.m. on Sunday at 1264 Main Street.
5. The Dream Taco Opens In Bedford
Bedford saw a new global fusion concept come to the city last month. Opening at 2807 Central Drive, The Dream Tacos incorporated French, Japanese, American and Asian cuisine with authentic Mexican flavors. Featuring everything from a Vietnamese-inspired banh mi taco to an Indian-inspired tandoori chicken taco, everyone can find something to enjoy at The Dream Tacos.
