
From plenty of concerts to shows galore, June is set to be a fun month.
Through June 12 | Winspear Opera House
Oh, what a beautiful morning — “Oklahoma!” is back again! This world-renowned musical was the first one written by the iconic duo Rodgers and Hammerstein and is based on a play by Lynn Riggs. It premiered in 1943 and went on to win a Pulitzer Prize. Now “Oklahoma!” has been reimagined for modern times by director Daniel Fish, winning a Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Both new and longtime fans will love the story of a headstrong farm girl named Laurey, whose heart is being fought over by cowboy Curly and farmhand Jud. You’ll fall in love with this simply divine southern musical and its beloved heroine.
June 3-4 | Addison
Food for the soul and the stomach will be found at Taste Addison. This delectable dining event features more than two dozen Addison restaurants and food trucks, where you can grab a bite while listening to live music from the Grammy-winning Jamaican rapper Sean Paul (“Get Busy” and “Temperature”) on Friday night. Living Colour, Candlebox and the Grammy-winning ’90s rock group Stone Temple Pilots will also be taking the stage on Saturday night, performing hits like “Plush,” “Creep” and “Interstate Love Song.” Carnival games, a petting zoo, pony rides, crafts and much more will keep the kids busy all weekend long.
June 4 | AT&T Stadium
Famous for his tight jeans and cowboy hats, ’90s country star Kenny Chesney is known for his unlimited energy, fantastic party songs and laid-back personality. Now having sold over 30 million albums and hitting the road with his Here And Now tour, the No Shoes Nation is pumped to listen to some of his biggest hits like “Don’t Blink,” “Come Over” and “Tip Of My Tongue.” With infectious songs and lyrics that will have you singing along, you’ll have no shoes, no shirt and no problem watching the sun go down with Kenny Chesney.
June 4 | Pavilion At Toyota Music Factory
Need a smile? Red fuzzy creatures, silly dance moves and upbeat music should do the trick! Indie pop artist Ben Rector teamed up with several A-list musicians to literally spread a little joy this year with “Joy Of Music.” The “Brand New” singer collaborated with Snoop Dogg, Dave Koz, Kenny G, Taylor Goldsmith, the One Voice Children’s Choir and Jim Henson’s Creature Shop for this fantastic album, featuring hits like “Living My Best Life,” “Sunday" and "Dream On." Now he is taking “Joy” on tour, so enjoy his smooth voice and all of the beautiful tunes that he’s bringing with him.
June 4-5 | Texas Trust CU Theatre
Rainbows, flowers, music — oh my! “Trolls Live!” is coming to Grand Prairie this month, and the kids couldn’t be more excited. This energetic show features some of your favorite characters from the 2016 animated hit, including Poppy, Branch, Cloud Guy, Biggie, Mr. Dinkles and more! The musical tells the story of a tragic event in the Trolls’ world — the end of hug time! To save the day, Poppy hosts an upbeat Trolls show complete with glitter, music, laughter and fun! It’s always a party whenever the Trolls are around.
June 11 | Panther Island Pavilion
Those who wear athleisure every day, go to the gym without taking selfies and view fitness as more than just a hobby are invited to FitCon Texas. This is a fitness expo with celebrity guests, exhibitors, live music and competitions over a variety of exercises and sports. A fun-filled Kids Zone will keep little ones entertained with inflatable water slides, bounce houses and obstacle courses. Work out, meet other fitness enthusiasts and get inspired at FitCon.
June 11 | American Airlines Center
Nicknamed for his rapid-fire delivery and known for his eccentric behavior on and off the stage, there’s no doubt that Machine Gun Kelly puts on an entertaining show. The artist — who has won iHeartRadio Music Awards, American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and more — released a new album in March titled “Mainstream Sellout.” His sound effortlessly combines alternative rock with hip-hop and rap, with popular songs like “Home,” “Rap Devil,” “I’m Not Okay,” “My Ex’s Best Friend” and “Pretty Toxic Revolver” giving us a few reasons to bang our heads while we sing along.
June 15 | Pavilion At Toyota Music Factory
Full of nostalgia, catchy pop hits and incredible choreography, the Backstreet Boys have no problems selling out arenas all over the world like they’re 17 again. Now you can join them at Toyota Music Factory this month as you dance to some of their biggest hits like “Everybody,” “Larger Than Life,” “As Long As You Love Me,” “Shape Of My Heart” and so many more. You’ve seen Disney’s “Toy Story” countless times with the family, but now Woody and Buzz Lightyear will come to life with the help of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra! “Toy Story Live In Concert” is a unique opportunity to watch your favorite toys on a big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra playing Randy Newman’s beloved original score. Children will love this new version of a timeless tale about Andy’s toys and what it means to be loved by a kid.
