The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Through May 15 | Dallas Children’s Theater
You may not have a magical wardrobe, but you can still explore the enchanting land of Narnia at the Dallas Children’s Theater’s production of “The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.” Based on the book by C.S. Lewis, this epic story follows siblings Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy as they discover a mystical place called Narnia. They meet fantastic creatures, engage in epic battles and go up against the White Witch, who has put the forest into a deadly eternal winter. With the help of the powerful lion, Aslan, these kids find the courage to do the right thing.
May 3-15 | Music Hall at Fair Park
On Wednesdays we wear pink, and in May we go see the record-breaking musical “Mean Girls!” The cult classic movie starring Lindsay Lohan is now a musical comedy, and it’s every bit as iconic as the film. It follows Cady Heron, whose childhood on an African savanna didn’t prepare her for the wild land of mean girls, diet culture and cute boys in suburban Illinois. She takes on Regina George and the rest of the Plastics to make her way to the top of the high school food chain before she discovers popularity isn’t exactly what she thought it would be.
May 6-22 | Winspear Opera House & Bass Hall
Long sunny days possess their own mystery and magic, something that is captured perfectly in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This William Shakespeare comedy will be presented by the Texas Ballet Theater this month. Get lost in the enchanting story that takes place in a romantic forest filled with mischievous fairies who wreak havoc on four humans. The colorful costumes and lavish weddings are the icing on the cake of this delightful show.
May 7 | Frisco
Rolling greens, clear skies and behind-the-scenes views of one of the largest award-winning hospitality venues on the PGA Tour awaits you at the highly-anticipated AT&T Byron Nelson 5K. The event starts with a yoga stretch and a dynamic warm up. Then walk or run through the course set up in the TPC Craig Ranch golf course. Afterward, go to a special jacket-fitting ceremony to recognize the winners, then unwind at the privately hosted golf-themed after-party, complete with free breakfast tacos, beer and seltzers from Tupps Brewery. It’s the perfect event made for golf lovers!
Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town
May 7 | Dos Equis Pavilion
Country music fans won’t want to miss The Bandwagon Tour featuring Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town this month. The native Texan has seven No. 1 singles and more than 70 prestigious awards (including Grammys and Country Music Awards), and she is the most decorated artist in ACM history with 35 different accolades. Little Big Town is another Grammy, ACM, CMA and AMA Award-winning group made up of Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman and Jimi Westbrook. The band is one of the longest-running in country music with nine studio albums, 3.8 million streams and more than 45 awards. Between these country superstars, it’s going to be a wild night.
May 8 | Texas Trust CU Theater
Did you just feel your heart skip a beat? The four-time Grammy winners and ’90s heartthrobs Boyz II Men are coming to town. This vocal harmony group is made up of baritone Nathan Morris and tenors Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman and is best known for hits like “I’ll Make Love To You,” “On Bended Knee” and “End Of The Road.” Skip the flowers and give Mom what she really wants this Mother’s Day: tickets to the Boyz II Men show!
May 10-15 | Winspear Opera House
The sweet scent of cinnamon apple pie wafts from the oven. Girls in blue dresses expertly dance around a small-town diner. And the audience is enchanted by fantastic choreography, funny jokes, catchy songs and a heartfelt message behind the hit musical “Waitress!” Featuring original music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles (“Love Song”), “Waitress” tells the story of Jenna, a woman who dreams of leaving her unhappy life in food service. But when a baking contest offers her a chance at a fresh start, she has to decide if she’s ready for a new adventure. This show is so sweet, you’ll want to come back for seconds!
May 13-22 | Dickies Arena
Boots and spurs, bull riding and the best cowboy cuisine that the Stockyards has to offer. You can find all of this and more at the PBR World Finals when it comes to Fort Worth later this month. With professional riders coming to the arena to see who is the best at bull wrangling, the PBR World Finals has a full lineup of premium experiences that every Texan can enjoy. May 14 | The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory
Olivia Rodrigo has her driver’s license and is living life in the fast lane — with no intentions of slowing down. The Disney Channel star-turned-pop princess stops in Dallas this month for her Sour Tour, with passionate “Livies” eager for the show. Recently winning Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album from the 64th Grammy Awards, this pop rockstar is making everybody feel a little more “sour” — not that we’re complaining.
May 15 | Texas Discovery Gardens
Admire colorful flowers blooming in the spring sunshine, butterflies fluttering through the sky and a painter creating art right in front of you at the inaugural Flora Fest! The spring festival benefits Texas Discovery Gardens’ greenhouse so it can grow more native pollinator plants. The family-friendly event will also include encounters with live animals and bugs, a model train exhibit, vendor booths, a wine tasting, a photo booth, demonstrations, a children’s playscape, an art auction and more. Bring your camera and explore the gardens afterward!
May 17 | Dickies Arena
Paul McCartney is coming to perform at Fort Worth for the first time since 1976. This iconic rocker has more than 60 years in the music industry, where he rose to fame as part of The Beatles with hits like “Hey Jude,” “Live And Let Die,” “Let It Be” and countless more. McCartney is an 18-time Grammy winner, including a Lifetime Achievement Award, and he is no stranger to fantastic shows (one of his performances has even been broadcast live into space!). Now’s your chance to see one of the legendary stars of the century perform live — it will make for a story you can tell your grandkids.

May 21 | House of Blues
Dancing barefoot in the sand or sipping wine with girlfriends, listening to Aly & AJ is always a good idea. Sisters, singers and actors Alyson and Amanda Joy Michalka released their first album in 14 years in 2021 titled “A Touch Of The Beat Gets You Up On Your Feet Gets You Out And Then Into The Sun.” It was a treat for both longtime fans and new admirers of the pop duo who discovered their music on TikTok. Now, the “Potential Breakup Song” singers are coming to the House of Blues to perform hits from their latest album, including “Slow Dancing,” “Lost Cause” and “Dead On The Beach.”

Travel back to the world of mixtapes and music videos, boy bands and choreographed dance routines for the New Kids On The Block Mixtape Tour! The multiplatinum pop group is hosting a can’t-miss concert featuring hits throughout the decades, like “Hangin’ Tough,” “I’ll Be Loving You” and “Step By Step.” They’ll be joined by Salt-N-Pepa, En Vogue and Mr. “Never Gonna Give You Up” himself, Rick Astley. Together, these four musical acts from the ’80s and ’90s have sold more than 150 million albums combined and influenced a generation of music.

Summer’s heating up, so it’s time to bring the ice, ice baby. Born and raised in South Dallas, Vanilla Ice was a hit ’90s hip-hop artist who burst onto the scene with his debut studio album, “To The Extreme.” Since topping the Billboard charts, Vanilla Ice has amassed an underground following, starred in movies and TV shows and even performed at the White House. Now he’s coming to the Fort Worth Convention Center, and he’s not letting anything stop him from playing that funky music.
May 29 | Dallas
Heat things up this month at Carne Asada Fest, a whole festival dedicated to this delicious grilled meat used in several Spanish dishes. The event will take place inside Gilley’s Southside Ballroom, where DJs and live bands will play country, hip-hop, Reggaeton, Latin pop and other music to keep you dancing and having a good time. Of course, Carne Asada Fest is all about the food, and you can try creations from over 25 authentic street food vendors.
