Main Street Days are Coming to Grapevine

Apr 09, 2012 02:26PM ● Published by tina

Grab a slice of summer in the heart of Historic Downtown Grapevine at the 28th Annual Main Street Days – A Pizza Experience May 18, 19 and 20! Taste wines from across Texas, the U.S.A and the world. Enjoy premium American craft beers. Savor the Pizza Piazza, indulge in other tantalizing festival foods and enjoy non-stop entertainment at this three-day, fun-filled festival perfect for the entire family.

Festival-goers will want to make plans now to be at the corner of Main and Hudgins Streets shortly before noon on Friday, May 18 for the debut of Grapevine’s new animatronic would-be train robbers. Located in the 127-foot high Cotton Belt Hotel Tower in the new Grapevine Convention & Visitors Bureau’s Headquarters and Museum Complex, these two, 9-foot tall, animatronic would-be train robbers will emerge shortly before noon and 6 p.m. each day to attempt a lucrative train heist. Each would-be train robber has unique reasons for attempting the heist, and what ensues is an exciting look into Texas history. The scenario details vary at each presentation, but the outcome is always the same with the life lesson that “crime doesn’t pay.”

Like popular pizza toppings? Prefer specialty slices? Are you a connoisseur of cheese creations? Whatever your pizza preference, you can find it under the lights of the Pizza Piazza at Main Street Days! Sample some of Grapevine’s best pizza possibilities and vote for your favorites for the coveted title of People’s Pizza Pick! Festival food fans will also find a full lineup of culinary choices including funnel cakes, corn dogs, lemonade and more. And don’t miss your chance to check out the Pizza Piazza Pub, featuring a selection of premium and craft beers and wines!

Burn off some of those pizza calories by dancing to the non-stop live entertainment at Main Street Days. See Emerald City, known for performing classic hits intertwined with some of their own stylings. Check out Hunter Sullivan and his 14-piece big band. And for true rock fans, don’t miss AC/DC cover band Back in Black.

Celebrate the warm spring temperatures at the Main Street Days Grillin’ Competition presented by BBQ Outfitters Southlake. Teams can enter one of six sessions throughout the festival with the championship session taking place on Sunday. Each session features teams grilling chicken, pork and shrimp and the winner receives one Big Green Egg Grill which can be picked up after the championship on Sunday. Teams that make it to the finals on Sunday will grill pizza for the championship. The winner of the championship session on Sunday wins a $1,000 package from BBQ Outfitters Southlake. For registration and competition information, visit Main Street Days

Attention shoppers! Main Street Days features a unique lineup of specialty vendors at this year’s event. Looking for unique crafts or jewelry? What about something cool for your home? How about great gift ideas for graduates or newlyweds? Shop to your heart’s content at Main Street Days.

Children will love the KidZone, presented by Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine. During Main Street Days, kids can build their own unique Texas-themed creations out of LEGO® bricks at the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center’s Junior Builder Competition. Additional KidZone activities include children’s rides, face painting, petting zoo and live children’s entertainment.
