UPDATE: Laura Hill and Carolyn Morris have each filled applications for the position of Mayor, and John Huffman and Shawn McCaskill have each filled applications for Place 2 on City Council. Applications and other finance reports can be found here

Potential candidates who’d like to find their name on the ballot come this May have until 5 p.m. on Feb. 27 to file election papers. Filing officially began Jan. 28. Two positions will be filled this election year, mayor and city council Place 2, with each serving a three-year term.

Southlake’s city council consists of the mayor and six council members elected for terms of three years. Places 3, 4 and 5 will next be elected in 2016, and Places 1 and 6 will next be elected in 2017.

If you are interested in throwing your name in the hat, you must meet the following requirements: be at least 21 years of age, be a citizen of the United States, be a qualified voter of the city, and be a resident and have resided for at least 12 months preceding the election within the corporate limits of the city.

The City Secretary’s Office will receive applications during the business week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Check back weekly for an updated list of who’s among candidates that have filled.
