Their first attempt to connect was a failed one, but quarterback Mason Holmes and wide receiver Zach Farrar more than made up for that uneventful first play. The two connected for three scores in the Dragon's rout of Abilene on Friday night, 42-17.

Farrar, the Dragon Pride Player of the Week, caught a 25-yard touchdown bullet from Holmes on  a third and 13 play. On the following drive, Farrar caught a tipped pass for the second score of the night, putting the Dragons ahead 14-0. At that point, the Eagles hadn't had the ball yet on offense and there were just 17 seconds between Carroll's two scoring attempts.

Then, after a long bout on defense, the Dragon's lost the battle, giving up the first Eagle score of the night on an Abram Smith score. On the ensuing drive, Shemar Coleman put Carroll in great position on a 45-yard reverse play. Do it all running back Lil'Jordan Humphrey accounted for  319 total yards including a 40 yard trick pass to Farrar to the 11 yard line. Farrar finished the drive off with his third score of the night with 3:47 to go in the first quarter. The quarter ended at 21-7, Carroll.

The Dragons went into the locker room with a 28-10 lead in the first half and never looked back. The defense only allowed the opposing team to score once more, while the offense multiplied its score by one-and-a-half.

Holmes ended the day 19/28 for 264 yards, four touchdowns and an interception. Farrar caught five passes for 96 yards and three touchdowns, while Humprhrey shined again, rushing 19 times for 113 yards, completing a pass for 40 yards, and catching the ball nine times for 166 yards and a score.

On defense, Robert Barnes and Grant Phelps each led the team in tackles with 11. Ryan Miller registered two sacks and Jackson Carter added one. IV Seacat knocked down two passes, while Barrett Buck deflected one. Obi Eboh had two tackles and a fumble recovery.

The Dragons enter district play when they face Coppell on the road Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
