On the heels of Veterans Day, Southlake Style wants to spotlight an area professional who’s transforming the lives of veterans: Gary S. Donovitz, M.D., P.A., President of BioTE Medical, a facility founded in 2012 to help with weight loss, muscle gain, hormone therapy and more. Read on for details on how Dr. Donovitz is helping PTSD sufferers, plus learn a little more about how to age healthier and feel your best.
Southlake Style: You’re offering help for PTSD sufferers by using bio-identical hormone replacement therapy. What can you share with us about this therapy?
Dr. Donovitz: The veterans with PTSD are nearly all deplete in testosterone. This contributes to their depression, fatigue, insomnia and pain. Replacing and optimizing their hormones is life changing. They sleep better, their nightmares are reduced, and their depression improves. Bottom line: They are better husbands, fathers and mothers. Often, they can return to society and work again.
SS: Tell us a little about why this cause is important to you.
Dr. Donovitz: Changing the lives of veterans and hearing their testimonials rips at your heart strings. They are so appreciative. All they want is someone to care about them and appreciate their contribution. I love caring for them.
SS: What do you find fulfilling about working with veterans?
Dr. Donovitz: What a great honor it is to give back to those who served America and allowed us to have the freedoms we enjoy. The veterans are often forgotten and underappreciated upon their return to society. Changing their lives for the better is extremely gratifying as a healthcare provider. I am proud that BioTE can help out and get the ball rolling so more veterans can have a great quality of life in the future.
SS: What’s your take on natural versus synthetic hormone replacement therapies?
Dr. Donovitz: This is an easy question. Synthetic hormones are never as good as natural bi-identical hormones. Natural hormones afford better brain protection, reduce the incidence of breast cancer and are heart protective. Synthetic hormones increase the risk of heart disease and breast cancer.
SS: Let’s talk about your best-selling book, Age Healthier, Live Happier. What do you want readers to take away from it?
Dr. Donovitz: Age Healthier, Live Happier is a book that explains to patients how hormone optimization can improve their quality of life. It is a timeline on how Big Pharma has overmedicated our society and a pathway to transform your life back to healthier aging and feeling your best.
SS: What would you like the community to know about BioTE?
Dr. Donovitz: BioTE Medical is the leader in the field of bio-identical hormone optimization. It continues to change healthcare by helping people feel their best no matter their age. BioTE and its therapy is reducing breast cancer significantly. It also is reducing diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis. Nearly 100 veterans continue to sing their praise for BioTE, a therapy that has given their life back. It has reduced their depression, nightmares and fatigue.
