Spring Signing Day 2016 saw 19 Carroll student-athletes accept college scholarships.

Once again crowds of family and friends lined the halls of Carroll Senior High School to applaud the accomplishments of Dragon student-athletes as they signed their letters of intent. In all, 19 Dragons across seven sports made their college dreams come true at this highly anticipated event.

Carroll Athletic Director Darren Allman address the crowd at Spring Signing Day 2016.

“It’s an incredible celebration,” said Southlake Carroll Athletic Director Darren Allman, “There are a lot of victories throughout the year both academically and athletically at Carroll. Today we’re here to celebrate the careers of 19 student athletes.”

Perhaps no coach was more excited this morning than Justin Leonard. With eight signees this morning and eleven total for the 2015-16 school year, his cross-country team dominated the gathering.

“I’m really happy for the senior class,” said Leonard, “They’ve accomplished a lot of team goals and ultimately their individual goals by signing their scholarships this morning. I couldn’t be happier for the kids and their parents as they see their hard work pay off.”

When these young runners step onto campuses like the University of Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Syracuse University, they will bring their new coaches a special kind of talent. “Carroll runners are dedicated athletes who are focused on the team atmosphere, which is really unique in what is considered an individual sport,” explains Leonard.

In total, the Southlake Carroll class of 2016 will send an impressive 49 student athletes into the collegiate ranks.  To this fact CSHS Principal Shawn Duhon stated, “It’s a testament to the hard work that our kids put forth to succeed.”
