Words have the power to change the world, and even though our cities are saturated with iPhones, iPads and constant digital stimulation, nothing beats going back to the basics. On September 16, 2016, the American Library Association (ALA) is hosting Keller Reads, a program designed to promote literacy among youths and adults.
After the ALA selects a book, readers have the opportunity to meet the author in-person. This year, the ALA has chosen “Two If By Sea” by Jacquelyn Mitchard, the award-winning and bestselling author of 23 diverse reads.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. at the Keller Public Library where Mitchard will present her work, answer some questions and then autograph people’s books, free of charge. Then, at 6 p.m., enjoy a ticketed dinner event at Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club that will also include a meet-and-greet with Mitchard, an extended author presentation, Q&A and a book signing.
Tickets for the dinner event are $35 and can be purchased at KellerFriends.org.
