Have a Lone Star Christmas This Year

Most people who live in Texas know where to go when it’s Christmas time. The Gaylord Texan Resort is known for its elegant and expansive Christmas celebrations, and this year, visitors can expect the same, if not more. Starting November 10 and ending January 1, the Gaylord is hosting its 13th annual Lone Star Christmas event. Guests will enjoy live entertainment; thousands of holiday lights, ice, snow and of course the resort’s famous Christmas decorations.

The Lone Star Christmas holiday events will include:

  • Two million holiday lights
  • Two million pounds of hand-carved ice
  • Two million pounds of real Texas snow
  • 54-foot-tall Christmas tree
  • Magical miniature train sets
  • 25-foot-tall Nutcrackers
  • 2,300 decorated wreaths
  • 5,600 feet of garland
  • 15,000 festive ornaments 
  • Holiday entertainers including Santa, toy soldiers, gift-carrying elves and more

ICE! featuring “Santa Claus is Comin’ To Town”

In mid-October, 40 talented master ice artisans from Harbin, China, will travel to Grapevine to carve two million pounds of ice into magical holiday scenes, brilliant characters, an “On the Blocks” ice bar and five ice slides.

The Gaylord’s eight-lane giant snow tubing hill is constructed with 1.5 million pounds of real Texas snow.

Gingerbread Decorating Corner

Choose from five decorating options ranging from a gingerbread family to decorating a gingerbread train set.

The Elf on the Shelf® Scavenger Hunt

By finding all the scout elves hiding in the resort and solving the puzzles in the scavenger hunt booklet, families will reveal the elves’ names so they can get their Christmas magic. Guests who help the scout elves will receive a special prize.

Milk & Cookies with Mrs. Claus

Join Mrs. Claus and enjoy milk and cookies as she reads a classic Christmas Story. Kids get to take home a special book autographed by Santa’s favorite lady.

Rudolph’s Holly Jolly Breakfast

Meet Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and his friends Clarice and Bumble at the Gaylord’s shiny new holiday dining event. Children of all ages will enjoy a delicious breakfast, play reindeer games and Sing-A-Long to favorite music from the beloved television special.

Glacier Glide Ice Skating Rink

Enjoy a perfect day or evening under the stars by going on a yuletide glide at Gaylord Texan’s 6,000-square-foot outdoor ice rink.

Build-A-Bear Workshop

New for 2016 is an exclusive Build-A-Bear Workshop experience that lets guests make their very own furry winter friend that can be personalized with cozy winter clothing and accessories.
