Travel back in time to enjoy genuine Southern California-Mexican dishes at El Famoso. The themed diner and bar will be opening in Los Colinas at the Gables' Water Street development on Friday, February 16.
After walking into El Famoso, you'll feel like you traveled back to Los Angeles in the 1930s and 1940s with their festive food, décor and atmosphere. Their 1,900 square-foot interior and patio automatically transport you to a calmer time. It's the perfect place to kick back and grab a quick, affordable lunch or dinner while enjoying quality creations.
Owner and creator Charlie Green came up with this concept while traveling around Southern California learning about the influences of Mexican street food in the area. He saw cuisine evolutions from Mexico City, Tijuana and then Monterrey that tracked changes in Mexican food culture's journey north of the border. He then combined those flavors with American dishes like burgers and chili to create their fused menu.
This diner feels like it is frozen in time to give guests the best comfort food out there. Because after you get a look at these dishes, you'll just want to sink your teeth into them. Whether that means a cold drink, tasty street tacos or cheesy queso, its right there on their menu. And there are plenty of new creations that you'll want to try out, like their Carne Asada Fries – fries under a mound of jack cheese, queso, carne asada and red peppers.
No matter what you order, you will feel comfortable after grabbing a table at El Famoso. It's definitely worth the trip.
