For the fourth consecutive year, all four Dragon Cross Country teams placed first in the district meet, giving the varsity teams a spot in the regional meet in Lubbock on Friday. The varsity and junior varsity teams dominated in their new 6A district. The top three schools in the varsity boys and girls divisions advance to the regional meet.

“As a program, we are very excited and pleased with our district performances,” said Southlake Carroll head coach Justin Leonard.  “To win all four divisions in a 6A district is a great accomplishment. Scoring 20 points in both varsity divisions and perfect scoring both JV divisions speaks volumes to the amount of work and dedication that our kids put into this program. However, this is just one goal that we have accomplished and we need to keep pushing forward to our upcoming regional meet.”

The Varsity Lady Dragons top five scoring runners finished in the top 10, led by the district champion Sarah Odneal with a time of 18:51. Gillian Mortimer was just seconds behind, grabbing second place with a time of 18:53. Ari Lopez took fourth with 19:16, Rianna Randolph came in sixth running a 19:24 and Kayli Jones rounded out the scoring positions with a seventh-place finish and a time of 19:32. Sarah McCabe and Antigone Archer also competed for the Lady Dragon team.

Timou Toure came in fourth with 16:03, Eric Karl came in fifth with a time of 16:16 and Ansel Richards finished out the scoring positions in sixth place, running a 16:19. Charlie Gardner and Luke Lanham also ran taking the seventh and eighth places respectively.

JV Dragons Reign Supreme

The JV Dragon boys showed how deep their talent goes by taking 17 of the top 20 spots and nine of the top 10 places. Perfect scoring their race, the JV boys were led by Michael Waugh taking first place, Eric Vetere second, Chase Haddock third, Jeremy Gonzales fourth and Juan Arcila fifth to finish out the scoring positions.

The JV Lady Dragons also scored a perfect 15 and had 17 of the top 20 spots and nine out of the top 10.  They were led by Catherine Tracht, who took the first place spot, Allison Esparza second, Ali White third, Chantal Van Der Westhuizen fourth. Sophie Watson rounded out the scoring positions taking fifth place.

The Southlake Carroll Cross Country Varsity teams will compete on Oct. 31 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock in the highly competitive regional meet.
