Cameron Douglas
Cameron Douglas will be the featured speaker at this year’s Stars in Recovery Virtual Event
Since we are unable to gather in-person at this time, the 32nd annual Jim Bradshaw Memorial Stars in Recovery Luncheon benefiting Recovery Resource Council has been reimagined and instead of being held at the Omni Fort Worth (as originally planned) will be broadcast virtually on Friday, May 8, beginning at 11:30 a.m. through a password-protected site.
Cameron Douglas will be the featured speaker at this year’s virtual event. The son and grandson of legendary actors Michael and the late Kirk Douglas, Cameron brings his torrid and complex life experiences to every role he takes on. After starring as Asher Gromberg opposite his father and grandfather in MGM's It Runs in the Family, Cameron's life detoured into one of loss, solitude, resilience, and redemption. After being arrested, he was tried and served a seven-year prison sentence, the result of a powerful and abusive drug problem, which he documents in his book Long Way Home. These days, Cameron is dedicated to paving his own path as an actor, the craft which has defined his family for generations.
Michael Molthan, host of the addiction recovery show M2 the Rock, will moderate this virtual event with Douglas in what is sure to be a fascination conversation. Since its inception, the annual Stars in Recovery Luncheon has featured well-known and beloved celebrities speaking publicly about their struggles and triumphs over alcohol substance misuse and mental health issues. Tickets are available online at https://recoverycouncil.org/upcoming-events/ for $150 and proceeds from this event will benefit the Recovery Resource Council, North Texas’ largest non-residential non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention, intervention, treatment and recovery of thousands of individuals and families struggling with alcohol, substance misuse and trauma.
