
WindSync wants to changebrthe way people think about wind quintets. Apex Arts League is bringing the playfulbrgroup to the Grace Chapel in White's Chapel UMC on Sunday, September 24 at 6 p.m.
Hailed by the “HoustonbrChronicle” as “revolutionary chamber musicians,” WindSync is internationallybrrecognized for dramatic and engaging interpretations of classical music. Thebryoung, adventurous group plays exclusively from memory, including elements ofbrstaging and choreography, and focuses on building a connection with audiencesbrthrough dynamic concert programming and charismatic stage presence.
WindSync is the gold medalistbrin the National Fischoff Chamber Music Competition and winner of the ConcertbrArtists Guild Victor Elmaleh International Competition. The group received thebrSylvia Ann Hewlett Adventurous Artist Prize and numerous performance prizesbrfrom the CAG competition, including the ensemble's New York debut at WeillbrRecital Hall at Carnegie Hall, the Chautauqua Institution, WashingtonbrPerforming Arts Society's Music in the Country series, and the Music in the ParkbrSeries of The Schubert Club (St. Paul, Minnesota).
The group also reliesbrheavily on a large body of original arrangements of classical masterworks inbrorder to build innovative and thematic programs. WindSync takes a specialbrinterest in reaching children, families, and underserved audiences, partneringbrannually with organizations such as Young Audiences of Houston, Music forbrAutism, and the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington.
