The Kimbell Art Museum and Blue Bell Ice Cream present "IcebrCream Sunday" on Sunday, July 21, in the Museum'sbrwest portico, to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Visitors will enjoy anbrafternoon escape from the Texas heat to explore the galleries and savor a freebrscoop of ice cream.
Docent-guided tours for families and screenings of children's filmsbrwill take place throughout the event. A showcase of family-friendly films willbrfeature exciting new releases, classic tales from around the world, and majorbrartists represented in the Kimbell's permanent collection. Film programs arebroffered in partnership with the Lone Star Film Society. Visitors to the eventbrcan register to win a one-year supply of Blue Bell Ice Cream or a one-yearbrKimbell family membership.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National IcebrCream Month and the third Sunday of the month as National Ice Cream Day. Hebrrecognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that is enjoyed by a full 90%brof the nation's population. In the proclamation, President Reagan called forbrall people of the United States to observe these events with "appropriatebrceremonies and activities."
To commemorate National Ice Cream Day, Blue Bell will debut theirbrnewest ice cream flavor, Rockslide Brownie, at the Museum. Rockslide Brownie isbra sumptuous dark chocolate ice cream combined with pieces of chocolate brownies,brminiature marshmallows, chopped almonds, pecans and walnuts, all surrounded bybra rich caramel swirl.
Admission to the Museum's permanent collection is always FREE. FortbrWorth Star-Telegram Press Pass holders will receive free admission to Wari:brLords of the Ancient Andes.
