Onebryear ago, Big Tex went down in flames. A fair icon since 1952, today hebrrose from the ashes to once again open this year's Texas State Fair. After hiding under a tent with 24-hourbrsecurity the next generation of Big Tex met crowds of enthusiastic fans a little earlier than expected this morning.
Abrhandsome spectacle, Big Tex's 55-foot tall frame is a full three feet tallerbrthan his older brother and sports a brand new Dickies shirt. He got some new Luchesse boots too— sizebr12—feet that is.

The 2013 State Fair of Texas will run today September 27 –brOctober 20. An annual tradition since 1886 this year’s fair includes morebr10,000 livestock entries, 5,000 creative arts entries across nearly 400,000brsquare feet of exhibit space. The midway will host 75 rides for children of allbrages.
