Do you plan on attending this year's State Fair of Texas on opening day, Friday, September 28th? If so, bring your boogie shoes and enjoy Le Freak in a free concert on the Silverado Main Stage. Although the entire lineup hasn’t been finalized, State Fair officials are providing a sneak peek at this year’s entertainment calendar.
The Rebirth Brass Band is - simply put - a New Orleans institution appearing Saturday, October 6. Rebirth will be followed with an evening concert by Ruthie Foster. She's known for her eclectic musical blend of soul, blues, rock, folk and gospel.
Enjoy an afternoon concert by King of the Accordian Ramon Ayala as he takes center stage on Sunday, October 7. The following day is Columbus Day and actress, singer, musician and songwriter Bridgit Mendler will make her debut appearance at the State Fair of Texas.
Grab your hat on Saturday, October 13th for an evening of boot-scootin' music with native Texan Kevin Fowler. Fowler's free concert will top off a day filled with fun, food and college football. But the music doesn't stop on Saturday night for those returning to enjoy legendary rock group Kansas perform the following afternoon.
The final weekend (Oct. 20 – 21) offers a Saturday night show by The Commodores while Sunday belongs to Tejano band - Texas Tornadoes.
Concerts on the Silverado Main Stage are free for fairgoers. The outdoor venue is a huge, festival-type stage surrounded by a vast blacktop. Most viewers stand, although seating is available on some nearby grassy areas, low walls and steps. An ADA-compliant area is provided for guests needing special assistance. The concert series has been produced by Glenn Smith Presents, Inc. for 24 consecutive years.
The Fair kicks off on Friday, September 28 and runs through October 21.
