It's pretty hard to miss, but in case you have been in the dark about being in the dark, the moon is blocking out the sun this Monday around 1 p.m.
This is the first time in almost 40 years that the path of the moon's shadow passes through the continental United States. Of course, it should be reiterated that proper eyewear should be worn if you intend to look at the eclipse. Sunglasses will not suffice. Many of the events listed below will provide special glasses, but should you choose to have your own viewing party, glasses are available online and at some local Kroger and Lowe's stores. Be sure to buy your eye protection from a reputable source, as many have recently been recalled as fakes.
While North Texans will not be able to see a total eclipse (only about 75 percent of the sun will appear to be blocked from our vantage point), there are still plenty of events being held for your viewing pleasure.
