Surprise your kids this weekend by shaking up your routine. Because weekends should be about spending quality time with your loved ones. And there are plenty of opportunities to do that at these fun events.
Dorothy has blown into town, house and all, to see what lies over the rainbow. Based on the 1939 film starring Judy Garland, The Wizard of Oz has become a musical hit with songs like “We’re Off to See the Wizard” and “The Merry Old Land of Oz.” Come out to sing along for opening night on Friday, February 9 at the Artisan Center Theater. Boys and girls of all ages will fall in love with this cast of comical characters. The show runs until mid-March, but there’s nothing like seeing the first performance.
Show your kids just how fun exercise can be at Fitness Fun Day. Come out to The Marq Southlake on Saturday for a morning of Zumba, Total Body Blast and yoga. You will introduce your children to different kinds of fitness classes while also having fun getting active with your family. You will also walk away with some very important skills – like how to do hands-only CPR. Plus, if your family is participating in the Wellness Challenge, you will earn three points for every class you take.
The craziest, most action-packed family entertainment event is coming to AT&T Stadium on Saturday. Monster Jam, the set of world-class monster truck racing and freestyle competitions, shows you what happens when these machines go off road. There will be moments of madness and laughs throughout the night that will excite everyone in your group. Either grab your tickets or book your suite so you can be up close to the action.
This Saturday and Sunday, see your favorite comic books come to life at the Dallas North Texas Comic Show at the Irving Convention Center. This two-day, fun-filled weekend lets guests meet national comic book artists and explore different comics they may have never seen before. Scheduled guests include Jim Starlin, Rags Morales, Randy Emberlin and many more. Kids 11 and under get in for free, so this could be a great outing for your child's friend group.
Give your family the opportunity to center themselves on Sunday before rushing back into the week at FlyKids Yoga's Family Yoga session. This parent-child session is designed for kids ages six and older and will teach you how to meditate, do partner poses and work together as a family. Mats are provided, so guests just need to show up, with a bottle of water to stay hydrated, and get ready to relax. Register online to reserve your spot.
