Colleyville Heritage High School TheatrebrDepartment is proud to present the Tony-Award winning musical, Hairspray, beginning Friday, January 25at 7 p.m. in the Colleyville Heritage High School auditorium.
Based on the 1988 John Waters film by thebrsame name with music by Marc Shaiman and lyrics by Scott Wittman, Hairspray tells the 1960s tale of plump Baltimorebrteenager Tracy Turnblad, who dreams of dancing on local TV dance program, The Corny Collins Show. When Tracy’s dreams come true and she lands abrspot on the show, she is transformed from social outcast to instant star. Tracy must use her newfound celebrity tobrdethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkinbrand integrate a TV network – all without denting her ‘do!
Full of laughter, romance, and deliriouslybrtuneful songs, Hairspray is a socialbrcommentary on the injustices of American society during the early 1960s and isbrsuitable for the entire family.
Tickets for Hairspray can be purchased at the door one hour prior to showbrtime.
