With Veterans Day coming up, there are many ways to show your support of our nation’s troops. Whether you donate food or money to a nonprofit that supports veteran causes or volunteer at a charity, one way to show your support is to simply show up. Here are five events to attend in the area if you are looking for a good way to celebrate our nation’s veterans on November 11.
One great event to attend to celebrate Veterans Day is Grapevine’s Veterans Day Parade. The event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on November 9 at Main Street, will include a parade and veterans fair that will have live music, free food and organizations that provide resources for representing veterans. Since this event is in Grapevine, it’s something close that the whole family can attend and enjoy!
Bright Stars For Brave Hearts: A USO-Style Salute To Veterans
Theatre is a great way to honor veterans, so definitely make plans for the Theatre of North Texas' "Bright Stars for Brave Hearts" show! This show, taking place at 8 p.m. on November 9 at 545 S. Nolen Dr., Suite 250, will be a USO-style revue with musical numbers, singing and dancing. This event will also benefit veterans, as a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Chris Kyle Frog Foundation, which helps military and first responder communities by keeping families together.
North Richland Hills Veterans Day Celebration
Another close event to honor Veterans Day is the 12th annual North Richland Hills Veterans Day celebration, and it is sure to impress. There will be musical entertainment provided by Birdville High School students, NRH first responders presenting the colors and a ceremonial oath of enlistment for new army recruits. Texas Radio Hall of Hame inductee Jody Dean will also attend as a special guest. NRH’s celebration will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 11 at City Hall, located at 4301 City Point Dr.
America The Beautiful, A Veterans Day Salute
Concerts are always a beautiful way to honor our nation’s bravest, so Flower Mound’s Veterans Day salute is a great event to go to. Taking place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, November 11 at the Lamb of God Lutheran Church, attendees will be able to hear a variety of wartime songs such as “Yankee Doodle” and “You’re a Grand Old Flag.” Light refreshments will be served after the event, so get the family together and make plans to attend this concert!
Tarrant County Veterans Day Parade
This year marks 100 years of armistice, and there is no better way to celebrate than by heading out to Tarrant County’s Veterans Day Parade. This parade will take place from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on November 11 at the Tarrant County Veterans Council with a theme of “Centennial Celebration.” Though the weather may be rainy, there are sure to be lots of people there to honor our veterans and celebrate their sacrifices.
