PNC Bank is expanding its footprint in Texas, and it just happened to take its next step right here in Southlake. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, PNC Bank is the seventh-largest banking company in the United States, according to PNC Regional President Brendan McGuire. PNC Bank opened its first DFW location in Plano in the summer of 2019, according to "The Fort Worth Star-Telegram," then opened another in Fort Worth before recently opening its third location in Southlake.
“We’ve been in Texas for a while, but in a quiet way,” Brendan says. “We were originally going to expand our presence just around the commercial side of the business, but in just two years we’ve already decided to bring retail here.”
People who enter into PNC Bank will notice it’s not like other banks. There’s no vault inside, as well as no drive-thru windows or tellers. What is there are a handful of PNC advisors, touch screens and video boards, as well as giant ATMs greeting you at the bank entrance.
Brendan explains that two-thirds of PNC customers do digital banking through their phone, Internet and desktop, but 80% want a physical branch available for assistance. This retail concept, he says, marries the two approaches to help respond to both of their customer’s needs.
“This is not your typical branch," Brendan states. "There’s a lot of technology, and there’s a lot of really smart people with green ties on that can help you facilitate your transactions. This location is kind of the next generation where we see retail banking headed.”
PNC Bank held the grand opening to its new Southlake location on Thursday, Jan. 16. To demonstrate how much they want to be involved in the Southlake community, PNC Bank commissioned several paintings from Carroll ISD art students, including juniors Bella Hanson and Sierra Minotti and seniors Luke Cadena, Sachi Kishinchandani and Zara Hasnani. Even Southlake Mayor Laura Hill attended, who complimented the bank’s efforts to integrate itself into the community.
“It’s not a typical solutions center,” PNC Channel Manager Shakesi Morris remarks. “It’s focused on digital first. We want to make sure as we are here in the community to help others bank easily, conveniently and ensure your financial goals. We’re excited to be here and make a long-lasting impression here in Southlake.”
PNC Bank is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you would like to learn more about its services, call 817.722.2800, visit at PNC.com or visit the new location at 1111 E. Southlake Blvd., Suite 450.
