On June 21, The Southlake Chamber of Commerce held their 2018 Awards Banquet. The evening, which was full of bright colors and festive attire thanks to the “Bollywood Nights” theme, included performances from NruthyaShakti Dance Academy, drummer Harshad Kanetkar and comedian Paul Varghese. After trying out some Bollywood dance moves and getting henna designs on their hands, guests made their way into the award ceremony to hear who walked away with community MVP awards.
Mayor Laura Hill received the Citizen of the Year Award for her efforts of improving the local community including opening new avenues for the business community and creating the SKIL (Southlake Kids Interested in Leadership) program.
Julie Walter was awarded the Chairman's Award. Mimi Tran walked away with the President's Award. House of Shine was named the Civic Group of the Year. Ryan Peabody won Director of the Year. TD Ameritrade was named the Corporate Business of the Year. Barrows Law Firm was awarded Small Business of the Year. Bill Tait was recognized as the Ambassador of the Year. MaryLee Alford was named the Volunteer of the Year. And Amanda Higginbotham was named the Youth of the Year. Congratulations to all of the 2018 recipients.
