Lady Dragon Softball Head Coach Tim Stuewe always seems to have a team full of players ready to step up. From underclassmen to veteran leaders, the Dragons' roster boasts versatile, mature athletes who make an impact when the lights shine brightest. With key contributions coming from all over, the Lady Dragons are getting production from each position. The big difference between this year's team is Southlake Carroll's experience. Growing up from a team that only featured two upperclassmen, cohesiveness and familiarity have played big roles in Carroll's continued success. Sophomore slugger Abigail Stewart leads the green and white with seven home runs. Her 34 RBIs rank first on the team. Playing a huge part in the Dragon batting order is Gabby Garcia, whose .494 batting average and 19 extra base hits pace the Dragons. With the offense doing its part, the Dragons' pitching staff has also had a successful season. Senior Cami Green has been almost unbeatable on the mound, owning a 9-2 record so far in 2016, while freshman Lauren Long's 10-7 record is good for second on the team. With the playoffs in sight, the Dragons will need to remain on top of their game.
Season Update
20-9
Get your popcorn ready! The postseason is upon us in Dragon Nation. With two games left in the 2016 regular season, the Lady Dragons softball team is in full control of its playoff destiny. “It's been a pretty good year,” says head coach Tim Stuewe. “We have an opportunity to control our playoff position.brIt's nice to be in control.” Only a game behind district 7-6A leader, Hurst L.D. Bell, Tim Stuewe's ball club has the chance to win district for the second consecutive year. Enjoying their best season in a decade, the green and white dominated district 7-6A in 2015, earning their first district title since 2004. So far in 2016, the bats have been active for the Lady Dragons, who began the season with their bats on fire. Collectively scorching at the plate, the team's batting average is a whooping .364. As the season's intensity turns up, the Dragons will have to rise to the occasion. With so many polished hitters in Carroll's lineup look for the bats to provide a little postseason magic in Dragon Country.
