The AmericanbrCancer Society event is scheduled for October 24 at 9:30 a.m. at the Universitybrof Texas at Arlington (UTA), and teams are forming now.
Interested? Teams canbrregister for free at MakingStridesWalk.org/NorthTexas. Last year, nearly 4,000brwalkers in North Texas raised more than $315,000. The American Cancer Societybrcreated the community walks in 1993 to build awareness and generate funds tobrfight the disease across the nation. Inbrthat time, 10 million walkers have collected more than $594 million.
“We invite all of NorthbrTexas to our Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk,” said Casey Miller, ACSbrstaff partner for the North Texas 5K, in a press release. “It's a way to honorbrbreast cancer survivors, and this year we're a part of UTA's parents weekend,brwhich will add even more fun to this community event.”
Breast cancer remains thebrmost common cancer among women in the U.S. other than skin cancer, and is thebrsecond leading cause of cancer death. The American Cancer Society projects thatbrin 2015, 234,190 new cases will be diagnosed and 40,730 will die from it.
