It's that time of year when locals give back to the nonprofits doing good for our community: Communities Foundation of Texas' North Texas Giving Day. On Thursday, September 20, the organization will kick off their 18-hour online giving campaign that will connect people with local nonprofits on their website.
Last year alone, North Texas Giving Day brought in more than $39 million for 2,723 local nonprofits thanks to more than 137,000 individual gifts. That brought the overall amount raised to $195 million over the past nine years.
The organization hopes to make its 10th year its biggest one yet. You can search all of the participating nonprofits on their website and learn more about their mission, volunteer opportunities and agency needs. Many Southlake groups, like Amy's Wish With Wings, Bob Jones Nature Center, Call A Ride Southlake, Carroll Education Foundation and Miracle League of Southlake are accepting donations through the site.
For another way to give back, Southlake Style will host a shoe drive at our Dragon Pride Fall Issue Community Rally this afternoon from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at Ebby Halladay. Bring your gently used shoes with you to help us load up Griffith Roofing of Southlake’s box truck. All donations will benefit GRACE.
