Celebrate the festival of lights surrounded by neighbors at the fourth annual Chanukah at Southlake Town Square. On Sunday, December 2, locals will start gathering at 5:30 p.m. to unite and spread the light.
“The message of Chanukah is a universal one,” Rabbi Levi Gurevitch says. “We've been doing a public menorah lighting in Arlington for a bunch of years. We decided to bring it to Southlake [additionally] a few years ago. The city was very accommodating. It's a fun evening.”
Rabbi Levi Gurevitch and Mayor Laura Hill will both say a few words before lighting the menorah. Then, as a DJ plays Chanukah music and games with the crowd, local firefighters will host a gelt drop from 25 feet up in the air. Your kids will love running around collecting chocolate coins dropped by these firefighters. If your little ones want to get a look into one of these trucks and learn more about fire safety, the firefighters will also be around after the drop.
And everyone will leave with a sweet treat. Traditional Chanukah treats like hot latkes and donuts will be available. Rabbi Levi Gurevitch says they are expecting about 200 people to show up and be a part of the event, so don't miss your chance to celebrate this fun tradition.
