Local gym enthusiasts will have to wait until next year to take advantage of Southlake's Champions Club. The facility will not open as planned in December due to the past month’s weather. The city has now announced an anticipated opening of February 2019.
“September's heavy rain is the reason Champions Club at The Marq will not open until February,” Public Works Director Rob Cohen says via email. “The contractor was not able to complete work on the exterior finishes, parking, sidewalks, landscaping, splash pad and the outside field because of the weather.”
Community Services Director Chris Tribble says that this delay will not affect any of the city's Parks and Recreation offerings. And for those who have already signed up for their memberships, “accounts will not be charged again until April 1, 2019 or 30 days after the facility opens, whichever date is greater."
So, until then, take the coats off that forgotten-about treadmill that's hidden in the corner of your house, and start training for the February opening.
