As part of Southlake’s Sister Cities program, students from Wuzhong District, China visited Southlake and were hosted by Isabelle and Olivia LeBlanc, Alexa and Maia Karmis, Emily and Liz Tubbs, Mason Edmund, Kyle and Elizabeth Boyd, Kayin and TJ Jones, Noah Hill, Bryce and Preston Inouye, Laurel and Devon Chocholek and Andrew Mayfield.
The Sister Cities Program established Wuzhong District, China as a Friendship City in November of 2010 and in a visit in 2011, a memorandum of understanding for education cooperation between Southlake and Wuzhong was signed, according to the Sister Cities website.
On Friday, the students arrived and attended that night’s playoff game at Dragon Stadium after tailgating. Over the weekend, their time was spent meeting with their host families.
Monday marked the beginning of their tour around Southlake, where they participated in activities at Carroll High School before touring Southlake Town Square and shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall.
On the schedule for Tuesday, the students headed over to Carroll Senior High School for activities and lunch with the principle before they went over to Eubanks Intermediate School and Dawson Middle School for more activities such as gym games and animal science class.
Tuesday night, students had the opportunity to explore downtown Grapevine's Main Street before a farewell party was thrown in their honor. The Chinese students departed Southlake Wednesday morning to head back to the Wuzhong District.
