Q: brCarroll has an excellent and established reputation of providing abrquality education for its students. Ifbrelected, what are the details of your plans to maintain the quality ofbreducation amidst budget cuts?
A: Chris Archer – I believe that in order to maintain ourbrexcellence in these uncertain financial funding times we must first assess academicbrprograms for efficiency and effectiveness. We should explore possibilities tobrpartner with area districts or colleges to provide expanded academicbropportunities with lowered cost. We mustbrresearch technologies that assist in curriculum delivery or enhance thebrlearning experience. I also believe thatbrwe should establish teacher mentor programs to more effectively capitalize onbrbest practices.
I firmlybrbelieve that our schools must be as good at helping our children be successfulbrin life as they are at teaching them math and social studies. This can only bebraccomplished through strong academics as well as outstanding extra-curricularbropportunities that allow for expanded character and skills development, brleadership opportunities and for a commitment to the whole student. I intend tobrstand for and promote both to ensure that CISD continues to provide a pathwaybrto success for all students!
Q: Ifbrelected, what personal skills and experiences do you plan to bring to thebrposition?
A: Chris Archer – If elected, I believe that my communitybrinvolvement, as well as my business and financial experience, will bring abrfresh, focused, and creative aspect to the board. I believe that trustees, asbrelected representatives of a community, must be involved in the community. Ibrhave been a resident of Southlake since 1998 and have been fortunate to see ourbrcommunity blossom. I recently completed CISD’s CLASS program, which providesbrdetailed insight into the academic, financial, and operational aspects of thebrdistrict at both the campus and central administration levels. CLASS alsobrprovides a primer on the state funding system for schools and on legislativebraction and initiatives that impact the district. I am currently a member of the SouthlakebrChamber of Commerce and Southlake Executive Forum. Our family supports, and Ibram a sponsor of, Carroll Education Foundation, Art in the Square, the CarrollbrCross Country team and Southlake Relay for Life. In addition, my wife and Ibrcurrently serve as committee chairs for this year’s GRACE Gala. I have beenbrinvolved with Southlake Girls’ Softball Association and have served as a coachbrand Board Member as well as Southlake Baseball Association. We are also activebrmembers of White’s Chapel UMC. I believebrmy extensive involvement provides me with insight into our community and willbrhelp guide me as I represent the citizens of Southlake as a CISD School BoardbrTrustee.
Finally, mybrsuccess as a businessman along with my personal and professional financialbrdiscipline will be a valuable asset if I am elected to the CISD School Board.brFinancial integrity and accountability must be a top priority because that isbrthe only way to help insure our number one priority – our children – receivebrthe educational experience they deserve. I hope to earn your support and yourbrvote for Chris Archer, CISD School Board Trustee, Place 7.
