Carroll ISD is growing, and in an effort to managebrstudent growth and avoid major attendance rezoning, the Carroll School Boardbrapproved a recommendation to purchase portable classrooms.
The portable classrooms will likely be used for pull-out programs and not actual homeroombrclassrooms, according to a story on MySouthlakeNews.com. They will be set up at Carroll Elementary, Johnson Elementary andbrpossibly Walnut Grove Elementary, and they’re expected to remain in place for thebrnext couple of years. The timeline could change, however, if enrollment surgesbrbeyond 2016-17 projections.
The short-term plan is tobravoid hundreds of families having to move schools. “Thebrlast thing we want to do is rezone a lot of the families along the SouthlakebrBoulevard neighborhoods only to hear a recommendation from the Capital NeedsbrPlanning Committee (CNPC) that would require additional rezoning for those samebrneighborhoods two years later,” Dr. Faltys said in the article. “We won'tbrutilize portables long-term, but this short-term plan approved by the Boardbrgives us the opportunity to let the committee complete its recommendation sobrthat we can formulate a long-term plan for Dragon families.”
