While many events had to be canceled or modified this year due to COVID-19, fireworks are returning to Southlake to light up the night and celebrate America’s independence.
In previous years, Southlake’s annual Stars and Stripes celebration recognizes Independence Day with music, live entertainment and an assortment of patriotic treats. While the festival itself won't take place this year in Southlake Town Square, the city will hold a modified event that will launch fireworks from Bicentennial Park at 9:30 p.m. on Friday, July 3.
“Our conversation has always been about how we can keep Southlake safe and healthy and celebrate our nation’s independence,” community services director Chris Tribble says in MySouthlakeNews.com. “I know our fireworks show is something our residents, visitors and businesses look forward to as well. This year, we’re excited to be able to celebrate the Fourth of July as neighbors and a community, safely.”
According to MySouthlakeNews.com, the city is doubling the height of its fireworks display so more residents can enjoy the show from the comfort of their own homes and backyards. The show will also be livestreamed on the City of Southlake and Experience Southlake Facebook pages.
