Led by Senior linebacker Will Davis the Dragons Defense once again stepped up big holding the potent Cedar Hill Longhorns to just seven points on their way to a 40-7 victory on Saturday's UIL Area matchup at Cowboys Stadium. Successfully managing the Longhorns speed game, the Dragons did not allow any single rusher more than 44 yard and only allowed 112 rushing yards for the game. Without the run, the Longhorns were forced to punt 5 times.
On the other side of the ball, the Dragons focused on their running game as well, posting 4 TDs, two each by junior quarterback Kenny Hill and sophomore running back AJ Ezzard. The longest of which was a 4th quarter 26-yard scamper by Ezzard putting the finishing touches on the game with just 2:50 remaining. The normally invincible passing game was put on hold, at least this week as Hill connected on just 14-22 passing for 125 yards. The team's leading receiver Peyton Williams caught 8 balls for 86 yards.
The Dragons (12-0) will set their sights on Arlington Bowie (9-3) who just defeated Franklin (El Paso, TX), 49-24. The Volunteers are paced by a tough running attack led by RB Russell Hansbrough. Hansbrough, just 5'7" and 175 lbs runs for almost 10 yards per carry and has 16 TDs on the season. They will face off at Bedford's Pennington field Saturday 11/26 5:00pm
