The Emerald Belles competed the weekend of Feb. 18 at the ShowMaker State Competition at Texas State University in San Marcos and came home with the highest awards.
The Belles were awarded 1st place overall in their division. They competed in the Jazz, High Kick, and Lyrical categories and were awarded 1st place in all three dances. Individual schools were named at the end of the competition for Overall Entertainment and the Belles received this for all three routines. They also received awards for Outstanding Choreography, Technique, Precision, Showmanship, Judge's Award, Sweepstakes, and Line of Champions. ShowMaker Judges recognize any teams that stand out in costuming and the Belles were awarded Most Creative Costuming for all three of their team dances.
The Officers placed 1st in Jazz, Lyrical, and Modern categories and 2nd place in Hip-hop. They too were awarded 1st place overall in their division. They received Officer Sweepstakes, Judge's Award, Overall Entertainment in Modern, Creative Costuming in Jazz and Lyrical, and Outstanding Showmanship, Choreography, Precision, and Technique.
Alexa Trujillo, Andrea Pugliese, Aimee Low, Lacey Munoz, and Jenna Seaton were named as a Top 10 Solo Finalist and competed at the end of the competition. In the 11th/12th grade division Andrea Pugliese was awarded 2nd place and Alexa Trujillo 3rd place. In the 9th/10th grade division Jenna Seaton won 1st place, Lacey Munoz 2nd place, and Aimee Low 4th place.
