As the last weekend before Halloween, it's time to put those final touches on your kids' costumes and light the candles on your porch's Jack-O-Lanterns. If you want to start the celebration early, there are plenty of family-friendly events happening all weekend long just waiting to help you get in the spirit. So don't walk. Run over to join the fun at one of these five festive activities.
Dallas Children's Theater's “A Wrinkle in Time”
Treat your kids to a captivating night at Dallas Children's Theater's production of “A Wrinkle in Time.” The tale follows Meg Murray who is on the search for her father. With the help of three celestial beings, Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, she and her brother start their quest to rescue their long-lost parent, as well as the rest of the universe. It's an inspirational story that will show your kids they too can be heroes. Tickets are $16 for their Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances.
For animal shows, carnival games and so much more, head out to the Fort Worth Zoo this weekend for their annual Boo At The Zoo. With just regular admission, your family will be able to walk around and enjoy all of the day's excitement. There will be plenty of themed activities and entertaining stops spread throughout the park, so be sure to come early to get in all the fun.
Keller Farmers Market's Fall Festival Fun
Take advantage of the crisp autumn weather and head out to the Keller Farmers Market this weekend for their Fall Festival Fun celebration. Starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, the event will have more than 50 vendors selling fall produce, baked goods, décor and much more. Kids can also trick or treat through the market, so be sure to bring a bag to collect all the various kinds of candy! The day will also feature a pony carousel and a pet costume contest, so everyone in the family – including your pup – is sure to find something to get excited about.
Get a taste for more holiday sweets at Toyota Music Factory's Toyota Truck or Treat on Saturday. The whole family can come out to this free community event from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. to enjoy music, a costume contest, bounce house and trick or treating throughout the trunks. The event will be followed by a showing of Hocus Pocus on their outdoor screen, so be sure to bring a blanket so your family can all cuddle together while taking in this Halloween classic.
For some family-friendly fun that's a little closer to home. Come out to the Aria Amphitheater on Saturday for MasterWorks Presents: Escape. The 7 p.m. concert will feature Dallas' own Journey tribute band, Escape. They have spent the past few years touring around and jamming out to the band's hits, and now they are bringing the fun to Southlake. Bring out your lawn chairs and blankets, and get ready to rock out to tunes like “Don't Stop Believin'” and “Faithfully.”
