Southlake’s biggest art festival is back where it belongs. Since 2000, the Southlake Women’s Club has organized Art In The Square to celebrate both the national and local fine arts scene. With the festival returning for its 22nd run, here are five things you should know before heading to Art In The Square this weekend.
1. The Event Will Feature Over 200 Artists
Known for its artistic variety, Art In The Square will feature over 200 artists from across the nation. Some are renowned for their work, while others are up-and-coming emerging artists. Some are even from high school. Whatever stage they are at in their artistic careers, all of their work will be on display at Art In The Square this weekend.
2. The People’s Choice Award Winner Will Be Announced
Earlier this month, residents voted for their favorite piece from Art In The Square’s eight featured artists for this year: Radim Schreiber, Rachel Dory, Kim Eubank, Julie Keaten-Reed, Christopher Brown, Kevin Zuckerman, Keith Andry and Prince Ducan-Williams. The artist with the most votes will be unveiled as the People’s Choice Award winner this weekend.
3. It’s An Award-winning Festival
The People’s Choice Award winner isn’t the only one who will receive recognition this weekend. Back in 2020, Art In The Square was named the best fine art event in the country by Art Fair SourceBook. The festival also received attention in Southlake Style’s Readers’ Choice 2022, winning for both fundraising event and outdoor event.
4. Enjoy Food, Drinks And Performances
There’s a lot of entertainment lined up for the weekend ahead. Besides the Kids Korner, EVO Entertainment’s The Zone and live performances from Manhattan, INTXS, Sylvester Jones and Brett Alexander, Art In The Square has an extensive lineup of drinks and light bites from vendors including i Fratelli, Feedstore BBQ, Cream & Crepes Cafe and more.
5. The Festival Will Benefit 28 Local Organizations
Besides being a fun fine arts festival, Art In The Square also does a lot of good in the community. This year, event proceeds will go toward 28 local organizations around the area, including the APEX Arts League, Call A Ride Southlake, GRACE Grapevine, the Me Squared Cancer Foundation and Metroport Meals On Wheels. Regardless of whether you come for the art or for fun, it will be a great time at Art In The Square this weekend.
